Mia is fwee!

We have been blessed to have this girl in our family for three years already! She is as stubborn as they come, and probably feistier than a starved pirahna. She is also incredibly loving and never hesitates to help others.

Mia loves to create and use her hands. Whether it's drawing or painting, or building with duplo blocks and lego, she has an intense focus when she's in her "creation zone".

She also loves the arts-dramatics, singing, and dancing. She recently started a "Creative body movement" dance class, and she is one of the only preschoolers who isn't too shy to do whatever her teacher is doing without a parent beside her. She frequently sings along to the radio, even though she has no idea what any of the lyrics are. She is our little actress, and fully embraces any role she decides to become. She could be a storm trooper, a puppy dog, a super hero, a mom, a doctor, or a hair dresser. We often have big epic light saber battles, and super hero fights (where I'm always evil mom facing off with my two superhero children). She feigns injury or plays dead with a complete poker face, that no amount of silly faces or teasing can break.

She is a expert procrastinator and is torturous to put to bed sometimes. I don't even leave after I close her door, because I know she's coming right back out with something she "forgot" or "needs". You have to make sure you have checked every need off the list before she goes to bed (water, pee, hugs and kisses for everyone, story, song...) or she will find the missing link and exploit it. At bedtime there is suddenly a need for her to have lotion on her legs, or her toenails cut, or the tags removed from her jammies. She might find some stray toy that doesn't belong, or have a sudden curiosity about what's on TV. The only need she's indulged in is if she has to go pee, but every night she still makes at least one if not several attempts to avoid bedtime.

Mia is a runner. You turn your back for a second and that girl is gone. I'm not going to lie she has escaped from me many a time when I've had all the kids with me. Usually it's at preschool when I'm helping Isaac with his boots, and a mad dash begins through the school with teachers and students pointing me in the direction she's gone. I've chased her up hospital escalators, sprinted down store aisles, and ran laps around church halls. This mama doesn't wear high heels anywhere if we're bringing the kids.

Mia is still working on getting her speech up to par, but she has made great strides the last few months. Mostly her pronunciation needs improvement, but she is very diligent at attempting words over and over until she makes progress. When this girl puts her mind to something, she keeps at it until she feels she's successful.

She doesn't mind clutter and often her room turns into a disaster zone during the day until bedtime. It's pretty common for us to find her asleep in bed surrounded by stuffed animals, books, and other random toys (hammer, pots and pans...) which we carefully extract before we go to bed.

She is incredibly independent and has to do everything herself whether it's opening her juice box straw, pouring herself water, dressing herself... The first commandment of raising Mia is "Thou shalt not do anything for her, unless thou shalt ask her permission, lest she show forth her swift and mighty wrath." And her wrath can be something terrible to behold. Trust me.

Mia loves to be a girly girl and watch me put on makeup (a once a week occurrence). She loves to pretend (and not pretend...) to do her hair and makeup. She has been known to steal lipstick from someone's purse and do her eyebrows with it. This little girl loves to admire herself in the mirror.

First time she painted her toenails-unsupervised under the table

She is also incredibly clumsy. If you've read the Mr Men series, she would be Mr Bump. If there is something to drop, spill, break, trip over, walk into, or fall off you can bet she will do it.

Mia is a wonderful little girl with such a love for life. She loves to fill needs of those around her. She has often tucked her daddy in when he's having a nap on the couch, or brought him a knife for supper if he is using a fork to cut his food. She has to be the first to inspect owies, and always wants to know "what's wrong". She wakes up almost every morning with a cheerful "good morning mum!", and spontaneously tells me multiple times a day "I wud you mum!" (I love you). We love this girl to absolute bits and pieces, and are so grateful for the life and spunk she brings to our family!
