Scarlett is still our featherweight, running away from the normal growth curve, at 17lbs right now. She is sitting on the 3-5th percentile for height.
She is normally a great eater and loves most food. Her favourites are sausage, berries, cheese, yogurt, and cereal with milk. She also loves things the other two hated (most meat, eggs, avocado, mashed potatoes, rice...)
When she's done eating she likes to fling her food as far as possible, spin around, grab the dining room curtains, and hide in them. We've started buckling her in consistently to avoid the hide and seek, but until she stops throwing food grenades, my dining room will remain a war zone.
After only having 4 teeth for almost a year, she managed to sprout 6 more in a matter of a week or two. And didn't eat for about 4 days, no matter how many different flavours of ice cream I tried to feed her.
Her language has absolutely exploded, and she can communicate most things with easily understood words. She can put 3 or 4 words together to tell me something like "Isaac walk hand", when she wants Isaac to hold her hand walking back from school, or "Gross poo poo toilet" when she has a code brown, but knows where it's supposed to go. In fact, everything "gross" to her is called "poo poo". Isaac and Mia find it especially entertaining to teach her new words like "butt" and "sucker". And I'm not talking about a lollipop. She is a little parrot and repeats everything anyone says to her, including tricky words like "elephant" and "dinosaur". I am amazed every day at what she can pick up and verbalize.
She loves to play outside.
And she loves dress up.
Scarly is
She loves both her older siblings. Whenever we pick Isaac up from school, she runs up to him for a hug as soon as she sees him. Then she insists on holding his hand on the way back to the van.
Mia is so great at playing make believe with her. They sit in the living room on the floor together and "make supper" or crawl around the house woofing when they're playing doggies. They play dress up dolls, and barbies, and tea party. They will cuddle in Mia's bed while she reads a story to her. Scarlett loves being a part of Mia's imaginary world.
She loves to push and pull things, and does a never ending circuit around our house with whatever she can find with wheels.
She loves her dolly, and has been seen carefully rocking it, pulling down its pants to check for poo then going to her room to get a diaper, or tucking it (or five of them) into her bed and giving it (them) a bottle.
She rarely rides in the stroller if we're out. I actually use it to carry my bags and Scarlett pushes the basket part while walking in front of me. This is also how I control her at the grocery store when she refuses to sit. She helps me push the cart, and I frantically throw things in without really paying attention. We call it speed shopping. As soon as I stop to examine prices she takes off running, so we opt for a chuck whatever looks half decent and maybe on my list in the cart and continue on.
She's learning her colours and shapes, and loves doing art with her big sister. She even asks for specific colours to be passed to her.
She takes a loooong time to warm up to strangers.
We love this koala baby and all the surprises she brings with her!
