Happy first birthday Scarly girl!

I'm almost a whole month late with this post-such is the life of a not quite stay at home mom of three.

Scarlett is now almost 13 months, and like her big brother and sister her tiny frame hides a giant personality. Not surprising-as she has to rock and roll with two intense, stubborn, and energetic kiddos on a daily basis so there isn't any room for meek and mild temperaments.

Her birthday was super low key. I wasn't even going to do cupcakes, just chocolate chip pancakes for supper. What a lucky day for her that when we went to the park that day there just happened to be a mom handing out cupcakes. For real. So she got to enjoy the icing after all.

She wasn't really into present opening which made it more fun for her big brother and sister.

We were able to have a family BBQ with both sides of our family a week later and eat leftover wedding cupcakes from my sister in law's wedding. Probably the most unpinterest worthy first birthday ever and it was awesome.

She just weighed in at 15lbs4oz and 27.5 inches, and is still blazing her own growth curve despite my diligent attempts to fatten her up.

On the bright side, I can still carry her in the bucket seat without any problems, and it takes forever for her to outgrow anything.

She has four teeth and thinks biting your feet is hilarious.

A couple weeks before her first birthday she finally decided walking was a better mode of transportation than crawling.

Scarlett is bright and curious. She can tell you what sounds a sheep and cow make. She loves to look at picture books ("beuh") and point to things saying "dis"? (this).

She can say 15-20 (maybe more if I listed them) words consistently enough for you to know what they actually are. She actually said "poo" to me while she was pooping the other day. Too bad her brother was literally getting an immunization at that moment or I might have attempted to take her to the bathroom.

She has started using a spoon and fork on her own.

She is really good with shape sorters, stacking rings, and nesting cups.

These are a few of my favourite things!
-fuzzy blankets and stuffies
-snuggles
-soother
-being outside
-sand
-the wind
-listening to the birds
-destroying and eating toilet paper
-fruit of any kind
-putting on headbands and necklaces
-draping clothes over my face
-wearing shoes (she will find her shoes in her room, bring them to me, sit down, and point to her feet)
-music
-watching animals

These make me mad...
-baths
-my car seat
-having to come in from outside
-my brother and sister bugging me
-not being allowed in the bathroom
-my blanket being stolen
-someone besides me cuddling with mum

Scarlett is my clingiest by far, but I sure love how many snuggles I can steal from her. She gets frustrated pretty easily and lobs toys across the room, but once she's figured something out she gives herself a big round of applause. She has a spark in her eye and when you say something to her you can almost see that click of understanding.

We love her so much and love watching her discover her little world!

PS I apologize for the lack of pictures. So many other people were taking them while we were on vacation that Gordon and I just soaked up the memories without our devices. I'll be coming for your SD cards grandmas!
