It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

I feel bad for not posting for a month. In all honesty, I sat down two weeks ago to blog and I had absolutely nothing interesting to say. School, work, sleep. That was it. So I waited another two weeks to have something remotely worth sharing and Christmas fits the bill. I'm trying really hard to instill in myself a habit of not making the holidays stressful, because it's not supposed to be. It's supposed to be about our Saviour and the celebration of His birth and the gift of His life. I feel like He is in a tug-of-war with the commercialization of Christmas, and whose side am I on if I'm ripping my hair out over how many batches of turtles I have to make or how many different malls I have to go to? Now I love presents and trees and baking and the whole package of Christmas, but I never want it to take over the reason why I celebrate it in the first place.
That being said, we do have a tree. A lovely Charlie brown tree filled with ornaments that I've collected almost every Christmas since I was born. All my happy Christmas memories on one tree.
All my ornaments....almost

Voila! It took us a while to make the star straight...

I made and decorated 3 dozen sugar cookies, and made 5 dozen turtles. I have also been collecting recipes I want to make from my new favourite foodie website foodgawker. Don't check it out unless you have time on your hands. It's pretty addicting. My computer and planner are filled with post-its of recipes I want to try like this one (sundried tomato and spinach torta)

and anything with chocolate and peanut butter and pretzels! I'm just gonna cook and bake for the whole 3 weeks...mmmmm.

We also made a trip to the Leg to take our Christmas picture and look at the lights. If we ever move (which according to Gordon is non-negotiable), I will miss this.

Merry Christmas everyone. xx
