B turned 5 months on Sunday. She is such a happy girl for the most part (except in the middle of the night as of late). She barely fusses as long as there is plenty to see, and the crazier the better.
She weighed 13lbs10oz at her last weigh-in and is in the 50th percentile for her weight (which is CRAZY considering the other two girls could barely make it over the 3rd to 10th).
Her cheeks are bright red right and she is always chewing on her fingers, which makes me hope teeth are coming soon, but I'm too seasoned to get my hopes up.
She smiles at EVERYBODY.
She has started saying "mmuum" when she's upset.
B loves
-grabbing her toes
-water
-Christmas tree lights
-eating her fingers
-when you sing in her ear
-watching her sisters dance parties
B hates
-grocery shopping
-sleeping at night
-sitting in her bumbo
-pooping...still
We are so blessed to have this little love as part of our family.

B: 4 months
I love the 4 month mark. There is finally some semblance of routine in their eating and sleeping habits, and their personalities really start to come out. Plus they're a little more sturdy which, when you have 3 older siblings, is kind of a must for my peace of mind.
At 4 months
-I won't know what she weighs until Tuesday but she's got to be pushing 13lbs if her previous patterns are followed
-She has a big round football head like her brother
-She still has a blocked tear duct
-She has outgrown many 3 month clothes and is on to mostly 6 month sleepers. Obviously not taking after her big sisters who never outgrew anything that quickly.
-She is generous with her smiles and giggles
-Might be teething if the colour of her cheeks, constantly saturated shirt front, and persistent attempts at fitting her whole fist in her mouth are any indication
B loves
-people's faces
-watching her brother and sisters have dance parties or race around the house
-the bath
-her "lamb lamb" (Scarlett's nickname for her lamb stuffie)
-squeaky toys
-the sound of water
-the taste of her fingers (apparently)
-eating as soon as the van pulls out of the garage
B not so loves
-poop
-the bumbo
-sudden loud noises
-her watery eye
-eating before we have to go somewhere
This girl is for the most part so easy going and smiley. It only took us 4 tries to get a baby like that.

Isaac 6 years old
I could never have fathomed how much our lives would change after Isaac entered our world. This kid was pushing the boundaries from the beginning in both good...and less good... ways, and he hasn't slowed down since.
I almost become overwhelmed trying to capture my littles in these birthday posts, so that I perfectly can remember what they were like. As a mother you have the privilege of knowing your children so intuitively and thoroughly (most of the time!) that it's hard to get it all down in words.
We had to change birthday plans last minute to accommodate a family funeral, so he kind of had 3 different birthday celebrations. We had his party for his friends at an indoor playground, and he wanted donuts instead of cupcakes so we had timbits and juice boxes. I don't think I can ever throw another party at the house again after that.
Then we had family over on two separate occasions for dinner. He requested banana splits at one prebirthday dinner instead of cake.
And on his actual birthday (Sunday) he wanted crepes for dinner and I was happy to oblige.
Here is what Isaac had to say about himself at 6 years old:
Favourite food: cheese pizza, crepes, waffles, and pancakes
Favourite movie: Incredibles 2 (I have a feeling it was because this was on at the time I was asking him these questions) or Batman vs Superman (for the 2nd year in a row but still has never watched and watched)
Favourite book: Star Wars (probably his favourite movie too)
Favourite hero: Batman
Favourite thing to do: play games with my mum and dad
Favourite thing about being 6: you can do lots of stuff like play games with your family
What do you want to be when you grown up? a firefighter or police officer
He is all about LEGO. Everything LEGO. LEGO shows, LEGO building, LEGO toys, LEGO books... It's one of the only activities that holds his attention for an extended amount of time and his way of de-stressing. He loves to build things from scratch and takes care of every detail. From fire trucks with extendable and movable ladders, to Jurassic park jeeps with open cabs and grills and headlights, to jets with wings and landing gear that folds up, there is no limit to the things he can create with LEGO.
He has started Judo this school year and was called "a beast" by one of his instructors after only the 2nd or 3rd class. He likes to treat it more of a crazy wrestle mania type scenario, making some of the other kids scared of him...but he is learning technique, self control, and burns a butt load of energy 3hrs a week so it's a win for us anyway!
His reading in both French and English, but especially French, is really starting to grow exponentially.
He loves being outside and exploring. He even got to go on a few special hikes this summer! And made it to the top of our rope swing!

He does have a habit of forgetting things, especially at school. He'll remember to bring it home the day after, but then will have forgotten something else. I always stock up on dollar store gloves and toques at the beginning of the school year.
He likes to issue a challenge on pretty much everything. It's very rare that I just hear an "ok mum". I usually do a double take when this happens. He has this need to know and understand everything and hates when he has to do things he doesn't see the need for. He likes clear answers and doesn't accept when things are vague or unexplained.
He loves to teach his sisters. He also loves spending time with his uncles and cousin.

As he grows we are actually becoming closer, and will often refer to me as his "special mom". I was so terrified of the day he would be "too cool" to hug or kiss me but it seems like I'm in no danger of that right now!
I have heard so many of my adages or sayings, if you will, repeated back to me out of his mouth. The other day when I told him we were going to a Halloween Party for adults only, he rolled his eyes at me and said "Well I'm practically an adult." So I guess it only makes sense that he talks like one too haha!
The girls had been thoroughly testing my patience one day while he was at school. I was trying to do his reading with him after he got home, but slowly losing my marbles with his sisters. He massaged my forehead in a circular motion and said "Shhh. Calm. Calm your brain."
Gordon couldn't find a tshirt he needed for his Halloween costume, and as many a wife I'm sure has experienced, I kept being asked the whereabouts of his shirt. Isaac pipes up "That's why you have to be responsible for your own stuff dad". Refer back to section where I describe Isaac's forgetfulness...
Isaac was teasing our adopted nephew Seamus the dog with a piece of food. I told him that wasn't nice and I asked him how he would feel if I did that to him with a piece of candy and then ate it. He's like "Well that's what you just did with Mia". I had jokingly, maybe two minutes before that, told Mia I had eaten all her dessert when she asked where it was. Touche.
He also likes to throw around the lines "I can't believe you just said that to your son." or "I deserve some respect young lady." when he gets a consequence for doing something he shouldn't have. I have also heard "When you grow up and you're a grandma you're going to say to me 'I'm so sorry son. I should have let you do whatever you want.'" Ha. Not likely.
Our lives sure changed the day he was born. I couldn't have ever predicted how something so small and helpless would force me to grow in leaps and bounds. He has always challenged my long held beliefs and perceptions and made me more tolerant, patient, and empathetic, especially in regards to other mothers. I love this kid to a galaxy far far away and back.

B: 3 months
Have I mentioned before how times flies at an unprecedented speed these days?
Pretty sure I have.
At the beginning of every post.
Picture from a month ago
Picture now
B turned 3 months old on Tuesday and how we love our squishy, smiley girl.
She was just over 11lbs at 2.5 months, and 23 inches long. Essentially she is wider than tall but still below average for girls not produced by me. As far as girls produced by me go she has a couple lbs on both her sisters even though she started out within 1 and 2 ounces of them at birth. She actually fits pants in the waist before she outgrows them in length. I struggled to find pants for both Mimi and Scarly that fit them length wise, but weren't falling off their butts unless they had a way too wet diaper.
She is already outgrowing 3 month sleepers which is craziness. My other girls NEVER outgrew anything before they reached its size in age. If anything they would be way older in age than the size was.
She makes the absolute best cooing and babbling noises. Her big brother and sisters cannot help but fawn over when she's "talking" to them. In Isaac's words "She's just so cute I want to squish her cheeks!"
She just started giggling a week ago.
She loves to look at people's faces, bright coloured toys, and books.
One of the best ways to calm her down is by blasting Piano Guys or vacuuming.
She was sleeping 7-9 hour stretches until a few days ago, and now we're back to waking up twice or more a night. But I know after 4 kiddos it's just one of many phases to make it through and nothing permanent.
She loves bath time.
Hates tummy time, loud sudden noises, being left alone but also being carried around. She prefers to lie down at stare at you.
Thank you for being ours Bumblebee!

Summer
I just wasn't thrilled with summer this year. Between the snow persisting to April, and then jumping into plus 30 degree temperatures while 8 and 9 months pregnant, not to mention smoke-ocalypse, it just felt like we were robbed.
Nevertheless we did try and make the best of it, including going to a couple parks that have been on my bucket list for a while. Plus we added two new members of our family to the mix (Brooklyn, and my nephew Charlie), so I suppose that in and of itself made up for Mother Nature's lacklustre performance.
We visited over 25 different playgrounds and spray parks in the city this year. The kids also spent time with both sets of grandparents away from mum and dad, which is always a big treat for them.
We explored the Muttart. Isaac and Mia went camping in Kananaskis with Dad. We finally took a family day trip to Drumheller. Isaac, Dad, and Grandpa hiked Bear Lake.
Besides the new experiences, we enjoyed plenty of familiar ones. Spray parks, bug catching, eating ice cream, picnics, building sand castles, and hot tubbing.
I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.
