She sure is! Maybe it's because Isaac was her size when he was only 3.5-4ish months, but Mia just seems too small to be 5 months already. She is rather petite, and only clocked in at12lbs4oz and 24 inches at 4.5 months, which puts her in the 3rd and 10th percentile! What can I say? I just make small babies.
She still wears pants from newborn, all the way up to 3-6 months, but those are still pretty roomy. Still no shoes, but she has finally grown into her hat, and we've moved up in the world of diapers to size 2. I even put her in 6 month tops, but just because I love dressing her in new things. She can still wear 0-3 month tops easily.
This girl has finally mastered rolling both ways. She was a back to front roller first, two months ahead of her brother. I'm kind of terrified that she'll keep that trend up. I really don't need another walker by 10 months! She's way better in the jumperoo then he was and will bounce for 30-45 min easily. Another baby who likes to be on the move.
Mia takes after the Jolie side of the family in looks, but some of her facial expressions are identical to Isaac's, so you can definitely tell their siblings.
She loves other people, especially other kids and her brother, and one Sunday had several nursery and sunbeam boys crowding the carseat playing with her. Gordon should probably be nervous. One of my favourite things is when she smiles or laughs at Isaac when he's throwing a tantrum. I feel like she's getting revenge.
She'll giggle for just about any reason. Isaac loves tickling her and making her laugh!
She's not super interested in solids yet. Isaac would stare me down any time I ate something in front of him when he was her age, but she's happy to act mildly curious and then go back to what she was doing, so we'll probably start them in a few weeks.
She is pretty attentive and loves people watching, book reading, daydreaming.
We had to resleep train her for some reason, probably because she would roll over onto her tummy and get stuck. I'd go in and roll her over and she would roll back two seconds later! It was crazy frustrating. Then she decided she liked to sleep on her tummy, so she's finally gone from taking an hour to go to sleep, to 10 minutes. She likes to fall asleep with stuff close to her face, so we give her a receiving blanket that she cuddles and sucks on occasionally.
The first word that comes to mind when I think of Mia is happy. She really is such a cheerful, pleasant little girl and I adore her to bits!

Isaac: 19 months
We have slowly begun introducing Isaac to potty training. As a result, one of his favourite words of the month is "pee pee". I've decided against getting a "potty" for now, because I'm pretty sure he would just play with it more than anything, and he already associates the toilet with pee and poo so I think a new toilet would just confuse him. I still have to get one of those smaller seats for it though... he's not a fan of his butt hovering over a gaping wide hole.
He is a fan of flushing the toilet. Getting to flush is almost a better motivator for him to go in the toilet than chocolate. He always says "buh bye" to whatever is disappearing in the toilet bowl. He actually went pee in it two days ago! He said "pee pee" to me, so I sat him on the toilet for a minute, not really expecting anything to happen because he does that lots, but then to my surprise he totally went. Definitely a proud mom moment.
Yesterday, when he said "pee pee", he didn't want to sit on the toilet, so I told him I would have a turn first and then he could have a turn after, hoping it would encourage him to go. It encouraged him to go all right...all over the bathroom floor, while I was having my "turn", so I couldn't even shove him quickly on the toilet haha. At least he knew when he needed to go right?
He has nearly 15 teeth, with one last eye tooth yet to poke through.
Isaac loves songs, and picks up actions really quickly. He's learned the actions to "Popcorn Popping" and "The Wheels on the Bus", in addition to the 4 or 5 other action songs he knows. He asks me for a "sahn", every night, and always wants "I Am a Child of God". If I suggest or start singing another song he goes "no, no, no, no" until I stop and start singing the right one. He also says "buh bye" to me about 4 times when I put him to sleep, before I leave the room, and blows me a kiss. Makes me love nap and bedtime that much more!
He's a pretty polite little boy and knows when to say "peaj" and "sheh sheh" (thank you). If he really wants something it's "peaj? peaj? peaj? peaj?" "sheh sheh" "sheh sheh".
Besides "pee pee", his other favourite word is "yeah". It's so cute when I ask him a question, and he answers with "yeah" or "no", and actually knows what they mean. Sometimes it's "yeaaahhnooooo".
He's become pretty talkative in the last couple weeks. He just jabbers to us, other people and himself all day long.
He's starting to be much better with Mia-being more gentle, and wanting to share his special things with her like his favourite stuffies.
Speaking of favourite stuffies, his most favourite is his sheep, which he calls "Baa". I didn't even know he called it that. I just thought he said "Baa" whenever I said "your sheep" because he knows that's the sound it makes. But the other night, bath night, he decided sheep shouldn't be exempt from having a good clean. Sheep spent that night in the laundry basket, sopping wet. When Isaac went to bed, I gave him a different stuffie and tucked him in, hoping he wouldn't notice sheep wasn't there. He looked up at me and said in the most adorable voice "Baa?". I almost melted from the cuteness. Luckily for me, he settled for his puppy instead, but his sheep is now affectionately named "Baa".
In the morning, if Gordon is awake and I'm still in bed, Isaac will come out of his room after Gordon gets him from bed and walks around the house saying "mummy? mummy?". It makes it really hard for me to stay in bed!
Since we've been able to be at the park a lot more (finally!), he's become pretty apt at scaling playground equipment and going down slides. Sometimes it makes me a little nervous, but I try really hard not to be a helicopter parent, and let him learn on his own, as long as it's not going to seriously hurt him if he falls.
He had his first bout of stomach flu, two weeks ago. I went to get him from his nap and found him covered in half digested fruit...luckily the only thing he ate that day (which had already alerted me to the fact that something was going on with him). After his bath, he then proceeded to puke on two sets of pajamas and blankets. I had two loads of laundry just to do from stuff he threw up on. At least I know his waterproof mattress cover works really well.
One of his new favourite habits, copied from his grampy, is to knock on the window when he's outside, (we live in a basement so our windows are right at his level), and wave to whoever is in there. Whenever my dad comes over, he knocks on the window and waits for Isaac to run over to see who's there. Now any time one of us takes Isaac outside, he does the same thing, waving to Gordon or I inside the house.
Although he gets into everything and anything given the opportunity (we've lost a toaster to a pen he shoved in there, and had to buy a new set of glasses after he smashed a couple in the same week...), I love how goofy and bright he is. If someone ever says to me "I'm bored", I always reply "What's boredom like?". He makes life anything but boring!
