First time overdue...

I'm nearly two days overdue now, and I'm pretty sure that I've never almost never been overdue for anything. Not homework, not bills, not library books... Baby girl is making me turn over a new leaf, not one that I'm particularly fond of but hey, she must just be more relaxed, and that I can certainly be fond of.

Since we got home 2 weeks ago I'd been having bouts of false labour almost every evening for a few hours. There were many times when I felt like she was literally going to fall out if I didn't hold her in. But she stayed put. Obviously.

Last week I celebrated 39 weeks by throwing up all night long. Every. 30. Minutes. I drank ginger ale just so I'd actually have something in my stomach to bring up. I slept on the couch so as not to disturb my sleeping boys, and because my oversized belly makes getting out of our bed quickly nigh unto impossible. I lysoled my toilet a bazillion times. Luckily my loving, wonderful husband stayed home to watch Isaac so I could sleep and recover a little energy. I was in hopeful spirits though and sure that was my body's way of prepping for imminent labour. Nooooooope.
My last appointment was Tuesday, one day before d-day, and I was 2-3 cm. After a little intervention which resulted in Isaac being born two days later, I was sure she was going to hurry hurry and make an appearance. Especially since I was already further along with her than I was with Isaac. Think again! She's obviously content to smell the roses...or amniotic fluid in this case...

Last night was the only night that I've actually timed contractions. I'm a lot more relaxed after having Isaac and determined NOT to go to the hospital three times before I'm really in labour haha. They started at 2am, uncomfortable enough to make me pause. They continued 6-8 minutes apart for an hour and by then I was starving so I got up and had a muffin, thinking I may need the energy. I decided to start timing since they were still coming, and they stayed 5-6 mins apart for another hour. I lay on the couch and closed my eyes in between each just to try and get some rest, something I sorely lacked before going into labour with Isaac. They must have stopped or eased up in intensity because I fell asleep around 4 and woke up at 530, a little disappointed that I had been able to sleep. She's certainly keeping me guessing!

My next appointment is Wednesday at 41 weeks and they'll book me for induction then if there's still a little person attached to me. A week ago, I was content to be pregnant and still not entirely sure if I was ready for two babies. Now I saw, come on baby girl, mama's ready now!

Simply having (had) a wonderful Christmas time!

This post is just a week overdue, but I have a feeling I could get pretty behind with blogging soon. Baby girl is due in 6 days after all.

We spent Christmas with our Nish family and New Year's with our Jolie family and I don't think Isaac and baby girl could have been any more spoiled! These are the memories we made...

-eating way too much chocolate, baking, food... (mum N sacrificed her portrait to be the photographer)

-Isaac NOT demolishing Christmas trees and burning his hands on the fire place
-ugly sweater party and Nish Nosh

-Isaac's first visit to the farm
-board games
-being Mary "great with child" in the Nish nativity (she was still great with child after...)

-opening most of Isaac's presents

-Isaac going so hard on his rocking horse he almost flew off the back

-going through the temple with my sisters for their first time

-Isaac sledding

-Christmas morning french toast, New Year's day crepes (Isaac loves his crepes)

-realizing that I could do Christmas anywhere as long as my husband and son (and daughter) are with me
